CONSULTING & ADVICE

Security Audits

Security Audits are all too frequently commissioned after a serious incident - when the damage has already been done. In the absence of a crisis, or when an organization's established security program seems to be working, justifying an external audit may sometimes appear unwarranted.

Change - Constant & Inevitable

Threats in the security environment frequently change on a day-to-day basis. By being pro-active, an organization can be confident that its countermeasures match up to the existing threats and that its investment in security has been spent wisely.

Independent - Impartial - Cost -Effective

SSI consultants, using the collective worldwide experience of the Group, work in close co-operation with a client's own security personnel to review and assess the existing security measures in place and to test their effectiveness. The subsequent SSI audit will provide an overall performance assessment, and where necessary highlight vulnerabilities. At the same time it will propose solutions that may range from the introduction of new technology to the adoption on new practice or the need for Ôin house' security updates and training for personnel.

Pragmatic Modular Approach

SSI adopts a modular approach to audits that allows organizations to prioritise need against budgets and timescales:

  • Physical Security of Facilities, Assets & Personnel - to include validation of policies and procedures, assessment of guard force adherence to international standards, reviews of physical deterrents, covert operations to test secure perimeter access / egress and evacuation dry runs
  • Administration Security - to include review of internal controls and procedures covering assets, cash, stocks and consumables, employee vetting, mail screening, information and computer security
  • Crisis & Disaster Planning - to include review of arrangements for business continuity and practical trials, and desktop exercises to evaluate the effectiveness of current crisis management procedures
  • Emergency Response Capabilities - to include examination and testing of procedures to deal with a variety of emergency scenarios such as fire, flood, medical evacuations, strikes, civil unrest and military conflicts.

Case studies provide insight into recent assignments and the benefits derived by clients. In case after case, practical HS&E solutions were evolved, risks countered, HS&E incidents were stemmed, and cost savings realised.
